Week 8 (Redo): Insanity & WW

Alright folks, I hope I haven’t let too many of you down with my incompletion of Insanity as scheduled. As aforementioned, I am going to redo Weeks 8 & 9, and I’m debating on adding an additional week. With that said, here’s my Week 8 Redo week update…

9/10-9/16

9/10: Max Interval Circuit: Let’s just say that I got my butt whooped and didn’t even make it through the entire workout. I had a headache prior to starting, and once I started the first circuit, I began to feel dizzy, light-headed, and extremely nauseated. Usually I would have tried to push through, but this time I think if I would have continued, I would have passed out, seriously.

Breakfast: Peanut Butter Crackers

Lunch: Nothing

Dinner: Turkey Burger, popcorn

Snack: Apple Crisp Granola Bars

Beverages: Water, Coffee,  & Green Tea

9/11: Max Interval Plyometrics: This was tough, but I think I did fairly well considering I haven’t worked out in a week and a half. My body is definitely going to have to readjust to get hammered by Insanity. I’m going to take a slow, but push myself.

Breakfast: Oatmeal w/reduced fat milk

Lunch: Smart Ones Alfredo Fettuccine

Dinner: Yellow Rice 2/3 serving), Turkey Sausage (2 oz), Black Beans & Steamed String Beans

Snack: Peanut Butter Crackers

Beverages: Water & Green Tea

9/12: Max Interval Conditioning & Insane Abs: While doing this workout, I felt like it was the first time I’ve done it. Towards the end of the Insane abs workout, I noticed my heart rate increased signficantly. I allowed it to decrease, then I picked back up. Overall, I thought I did well, and will continue to push through until I complete Insanity.

Breakfast: None

Lunch: Smart Ones Broccoli & Cheddar Roasted Potatoes

Dinner: Yellow Rice 3/4 serving), Turkey Sausage (2 oz), Black Beans & Steamed String Beans

Snack: Peanut Butter Crackers (2/3 serving)

Beverages: Water & Green Tea

9/13: Max Interval Recovery: Like the other workouts during this week, it was tough to get through.

Breakfast: 1 Egg & biscuit

Lunch: Smart Ones Fettuccine Alfredo

Dinner: Progresso Reduced Fat Clam Chowder w/Yellow Rice (1/4 Serving) & Grilled Cheese

Snack: Hummingbird Cupcake & 1 Godiva Biscuit

Beverages: Water, Coffee & Green Tea

9/14: Max Interval Cardio Circuit: I was able to get through this workout this time around. It was hard, but I managed. I definitely paid close attention to my body to make sure I didn’t experience the same issues I did on Monday. Overall, it was a good workout.

Breakfast: Egg Sandwich

Lunch: Smart Ones Fettuccine Alfredo

Dinner: Progresso Reduced Fat Clam Chowder & Grilled Cheese w/Turkey Sausage, White Cheddar Popcorn

Snack: Peanut Butter Crackers & Nutter Butters

Beverages: Water, Coffee & Green Tea

**Went over allotted points for the day.

9/15: Max Interval Sports training: As I mentioned before, this is my favorite Insanity workout. It was hard to get through, but it is the most manageable workout. I made sure to push through though. I think during this redo week, it was my best workout.

Breakfast: Shrimp & Grits, 1 Slice of Toast

Lunch: Banana & Cocoa Roasted Almonds

Dinner: Sliced Chicken Deli Sandwich (grilled), Black Beans & Steamed String Beans

Snack: Watermelon

Beverages: Coffee & Green Tea

Jack Melnick’s [Chicago]

Chicago is known for many things including great food like Italian Beef, Deep Dish Pizza and Hot dogs. So, when we came across Jake Melnick’s Corner Tap, we were a little hesistant because it claims to have award winning wings. However, we were super hungry and didn’t want to walk anywhere else.

This restuarant is setup like your typical bar/resturant. There was a bar in the center, with high tops and four-top tables surrounding it. It is very remnisicent of TGI Fridays or Chilis.

Within minutes of being sat, we were greeted by our server. He was nice and cordial. We had several questions, and he was able to answer each one throughly. The only compaint about our service is that I think he was tired, which caused him to be a little forgetful. We’d order something and he’d forget we mentioned it. Even with his forgetfulness, I thought the service was good.

The menu definitely had its share of appetizing entrees, but as I mentioned before, this place was awarded for its great wings.  It was a necessity that we try the wings. We didn’t want the wings as an entree. So, we ordered the combo wings, which  included 4 traditional wings and 4 Poncho wings. While I did like the traditional wingsl, I definitely liked the Poncho wings better. They were grilled and marinaded in Garlic and Cayenne Pepper. I thought it was going to be spicy, but it wasn’t at all, which is probably why I really liked them and would recommend them. For my entree, I ordered buffulo fries drizzled in bleu cheese and a turkey burger with Swiss cheese, onions, mushrooms and avocado. Yes, I took it all the way, and have no regrets. This was so good, and was definitely one of the best turkey burgers I’ve ever had. It was huge and I could only finish a half. It was grilled just right! It wasn’t too soft or too hard, it was perfecto!

I had a really good dining experience here. The food is affordably priced, the service is good, and the food was amazing. I’d definitely recommend this spot to visitors to the Chicago area and to the native Chicagoans.

Week 9: Insanity and Weight Watchers

Greetings!

I know everyone was expecting my final update on Insanity and Weight Watchers to be published today. However, a lot has happened over the past two weeks. I have not completed the Insanity program just yet. I’ve decided to redo weeks 8 and 9, and add an additional week. I will update accordingly. I apologize to those who were waiting and expecting a final update. It’s coming, it will just be delayed.

Due to the things taking place the past couple of weeks, I didn’t eat well either. At weigh in this morning, I found that I gained 5 pounds. Of course this is a setback, but I’ve come to realize that everything is not going to always be organized and done the way we want them. Life throws curve balls, and we have to learn how knock it out the park even if we strike out a few times.

With that said, stay tuned for my upcoming Insanity & Weight Watchers updates. If you’ve experienced a curve ball, I encourage you to get back up to the plate and try again! Keep moving forward.

Week 8: Insanity & WW

8/26-9/1

Note(s): The RNC and Hurricane/TS Isaac are on it’s their way this week. So, this will be a crazy week for Insanity and Weight Watchers! Previous servings of Chicken Sausage have been 1/2 serving. Also, I don’t know what it is, but the day after I do Plyo, I am extremely hungry. I guess that workout really jump starts my metabolism.

Day 46: (Insanity Day Off): Body most certainly needed a rest, as usual. Thank goodness!

Breakfast: Egg White Cheese Omelet, Toast (2), 1/3 serving of Olive Oil Butter, 1 Serving of Chicken Sausage (to finish it off)

Lunch: Sliced Chicken Sandwich

Dinner: Turkey Chili, 1/2 Serving of White Rice, 1/2 Serving of Reduced Shredded Cheddar Cheese

Snacks: Apple Crisp Granola & Cherries

Beverages: Tea, Coffee & Water

Day 46: (Fit Test & Max Interval Circuit): Alright, so I put forth so much effort in the Fit Test that when it came to the Circuit workout, I was tired. It took me until the second circuit to get it right. I hate that the Fit Test is put before a more difficult workout. Although, it took me until the second circuit to get my rhythm, I know my body still got a good workout.

Breakfast: Egg White Sandwich with Cheese & Turkey Sausage

Lunch: Smart Ones Broccoli and Cheddar Roasted Potatoes

Dinner: Turkey Chili, 1/2 Serving of White Rice, 1/2 Serving of Reduced Shredded Cheddar Cheese

Snacks: Peanut Butter Crackers, Banana & Cherries

Beverages: Tea & Water

Day 47: (Max Interval Plyo): After yesterday’s charades, I thought this was going to be a bad workout. However, it was great! Lately, I’ve been focusing more on my core, and today was no different.

Breakfast: Egg White Sandwich with Cheese & Turkey Sausage

Lunch: Smart Ones Fettuccine Alfredo

Dinner: Turkey Chili, 1/2 Serving of White Rice, 1/2 Serving of Reduced Shredded Cheddar Cheese

Snacks: Peanut Butter Crackers, Banana & Cherries

Beverages: Tea & Water

Unfortunately, I was unable to complete this week’s workouts. The roof caved in at work. I worked 12 hours on Wednesday and 13 on Thursday. I did not do my Insanity workout from 8/29-9/4 (This info will be noted in the next update as well), and I did not stick to my diet during those dates either. I will be picking back up tomorrow. I am going to make up the workouts that I missed and I’ve been thinking about adding an additional workout. I do feel bad about not completing Insanity on time, but it’s life. Things happen.
