Fall 2013 Must Haves

Essie’s Aruba Blue

PhotoGrid_1361503188270I absolutely love Essie nail polish! It is by far the best brand of polish I’ve used, and  I am no professional by any means, hence the shoddy job I did. Essie nail polish consistency is really thick, and two coats will always do the job. I chose Aruba Blue because blue is my favorite color. The moment I saw it, I fell in love. I was a bit hesitant because I wasn’t sure how it would look against my skin complexion, but I was pleased with how it turned out. Aruba Blue is a very pigmented color, as are all of the Essie nail polishes that I’ve tried. This brand is on the more expensive side, but it’s definitely worth it. It’s long-lasting, the colors turn out amazing, and there is such a variety to choose from. It’s obvious that I’d recommend this brand, but I’d also recommend trying this color. I believe that this shade of blue can be worn year-round. So, give it a shot; I think you may fall in love with it, too.

Essie & China Glaze: Tribal Style

As the summer is coming to an end, fall colors are starting to seep through. I’ve noticed that plum, maroon and similar colors are starting to hit store shelves, especially in H&M. So, I decided to embrace the transition into the fall season with my  nail colors. The plum color is by Essie and is called Bahama Mama and the yellow color, Sun Worshiper,  is by China Glaze.

I love this combination. The yellow offsets, yet compliments the plum. My inspiration for this is the tribal prints that I’ve been seeing. Some tribal print styles embrace colors that offset yet compliment each other.

Now, I am looking for something else to inspire my next paint job. What inspires your nail colors?

Essie’s Go Overboard

I have never been the one to wear solid nail colors until recently. I am 26-years-old and the first time I’ve ever worn a solid color on my nails was about 3 years ago. I’ve always played it safe with a french manicure. Although I’ve ventured out on my finger nails, I REFUSE to paint my toes a solid color. Never have, never will.

Anyway, Essie recently introduced a new color called, Go Overboard. I absolutely love this color! I think it’s a very classy color with a touch of attitude. I think it matches well with my complexion as well, something I am concerned about when choosing nail polishes.

Essie generally retails from about $7-8 depending on where you purchase it. This is a good quality brand and I’d put it in the category of OPI. It goes on smoothly and two coats does the trick. I’ve worn nail polishes that take three coats, so I was definitely thrilled that I only needed two coats. Go Overboard is a great summer color and can be worn in the fall as well. I’d highly recommend this color, especially since I’ve received several compliments on it.
